Beginning in 1999. I organized a yearly reunion for our Talcott family line which was held in Shickshinny, PA at the Boarding Hall of Patterson Grove Campground (a former Methodist Campground). We moved the reunion to the East Mountain Inn/Holiday Inn for two years in Wilkes Barre, PA to accommodate those traveling from afar. We held a reunion in Albany, NY because several Talcott's were from that area and that was the home of S.V. Talcott. We held our last local Talcott reunion in Oneonta, NY where our Samuel David Talcott was born and raised before locating in Shickshinny, Pennsylvania.
I had been corresponding with Ron Talcott from Tacoma, Washington for several years. He told me about their family having a reunion In the summer of 2005. I convinced my sister to take a trip-of-a-lifetime to attend Ron's Talcott family reunion which was held in Seeley Lake, Montana. We got to meet our Talcott cousins in the West, and it was a fantastic trip.
In 2009, I attended their family reunion again which was held in Vail, CO that year and proposed a Talcott Family Reunion to be held in 2011 in Hartford, CT to celebrate the 375th anniversary of the founding of Hartford and the 379th anniversary of the Talcott's coming to America. The proposal was accepted by the Western Talcott family group and my Talcott family in the East.
The reunion was held on September 13-17, 2011 in Hartford, CT and became the First National Talcott Family Reunion. Talcott's came from 21 states to attend the reunion; thus, it became the First National Talcott Family Reunion. As a result of that gathering, it was clear we need to form a Talcott family association.
